SKILLS Management Framework

Developed by Mohamad Haitan Rachman

A structured model to identify, develop, and optimize skills for personal, organizational, and ecosystem growth.

Acronym: SKILLS

  • S – Scan: Identify and map current skills (skills inventory, skills matrix, digital tools).
  • K – Know the Gaps: Analyze required vs. existing skills (skills gap analysis, future skills mapping).
  • I – Improve: Develop skills through training, mentoring, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
  • L – Leverage: Deploy the right skills to the right projects, roles, and innovation opportunities.
  • L – Link: Connect skills to performance, career development, and organizational strategy.
  • S – Sustain: Maintain relevance with lifelong learning, reskilling, and adapting to change.

Framework Flow

  1. Scan → Create a clear skills inventory for individuals/teams.
  2. Know the Gaps → Compare with competencies needed now and in the future.
  3. Improve → Provide upskilling and reskilling pathways.
  4. Leverage → Assign skills strategically to maximize impact.
  5. Link → Tie skills to career progression, innovation, and business outcomes.
  6. Sustain → Build a culture of continuous skills growth.

Benefits of the SKILLS Framework

  • For Individuals: Clear career roadmaps, personal growth, and employability.
  • For Organizations: Better workforce planning, project success, and innovation capacity.
  • For Ecosystems (like EB2P, KE3, TALENT): Stronger collaboration, knowledge-to-skill transformation, and sustainability.

Example (Applied in Your Ecosystem)

  • In TALENT Framework, “Learn” and “Nurture” directly connect to Improve in SKILLS.
  • In PERFORM Framework, “Reflect Often” ensures skills are updated and Sustained.
  • In KE3 Framework, “Exploration → Enrichment → Exploitation” can be translated into skills scanning, skills learning, and skills deployment.

With this, you now have your own SKILLS Management Framework to sit alongside your ecosystem (SUCCESS, PRODUCT, CYCLE, TALENT, PERFORM, etc.).
